I’m Here for You
WHAT IS REIKI?
The term reiki derives from two Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki” which refers to the vital life force energy that flows through all living things. Essentially, reiki means “Universal Energy”. Reiki is an energy healing technique where the reiki practitioner uses their hands to deliver healing to the recipient by either touching a person or hovering over them. Reiki uses the elemental healing ray of Earth, which comes from Source.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REIKI?
There are many benefits to receiving reiki. Mental benefits include relaxation, better sleep, and a reduction of anxiety and stress. Physically, reiki can foster tissue and bone healing after injury and relieves pain and tension. It also stimulates the body’s immune system, promotes natural self-healing and supports traditional medical treatments for people with conditions such as cancer, autoimmune diseases and other illnesses.
CAN REIKI NEGATIVELY AFFECT ME?
Reiki can never harm, and only helps the recipient. A few people may have a short-term unpleasant response that is usually associated with the release of toxins. Unpleasant responses could be a sudden yet resolving emotional burst of sadness or anger, or a physical response of tiredness, skin redness/flushing, or diarrhea. None of these responses are long-term or damaging, and actually are indicators that you are cleansing deep-rooted emotional blockages.
DOES REIKI WORK ON EVERYONE?
Reiki will work on everyone who is open and accepting of the process and of the energy being given. Individuals from all races, ethnicities, backgrounds and walks of life can benefit from reiki. As with any self-care regimen, the recipient must also work to maintain the balance gained during a session.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR AN INDIVIDUAL SESSION?
I will consult with you prior to your session, so think about the reasons why you’re participating in a session. Please be prepared to share any medical concerns or treatments you are currently receiving. All information shared is confidential. Wear comfortable clothes and have a safe, quiet place to sit or lay down.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A GROUP SESSION?
Dress comfortably and find a quiet space where you can be alone. Some people prefer to lay down while others like to be seated in a chair. Silence your phone and turn off other distractions.
WHAT WILL I EXPERIENCE DURING A SESSION?
During a session, many people will feel deeply relaxed or a meditative state. Recipients have reported feeling heat from my hands, tingling or energy flow inside the body, a wave of coolness, and seeing colors or images when their eyes are closed. I suggest that you try not to have any expectations and try to be as present and open to the experience as you can.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP SESSION?
An individual session is a highly personalized and customized experience. I will work directly with the individual on their personal goals for the session. You will receive information and messages that directly apply to you. Group sessions are sessions where you are sharing time with others. All participants in group sessions will receive healing and energy work simultaneously. I will work on all chakras, but you will not receive personalized messages.
WHAT DOES REMOTE (OR LONG-DISTANCE) REIKI MEAN?
Energy is not bound by time or location, so properly trained reiki practitioners can send energy and heal from a location that is different than the recipient. I regularly do remote (long-distance) healing on clients in other states, all who report extraordinary results and experiences. In-person sessions are not “better” than remote sessions, and it really just depends on your preference and the current environment. Some local clients prefer remote sessions because it eliminates the need to travel, or helps alleviate social anxieties that some are faced with. My remote sessions typically have a phone or video conferencing element to them so I can connect more fully.
WHAT IS TERA MAI™ REIKI?
There are different lineages of reiki that all refer to an original Reiki Master and all of the following Reiki Masters who learned from the original master. Different lineages of reiki developed mainly due to how a Reiki Master initiated and taught reiki to their students; however, most of the concepts are the same. Tera Mai™ was founded by a natural healer and psychic named Kathleen Milner. She believes that when reiki began spreading, initiators changed the way healers were initiated which downgraded the power and level of healing they were able to give. In 1991, Milner had a consciousness-raising experience where she was visited by the Gautama Buddha who told her how to fix the initiations and bring reiki back up to the level it was meant to produce. Milner is not a Buddhist, but he came to her to right the spiritual wrongs created by human ego. Thus, it is believed by Tera Mai™ practitioners that Tera Mai™ has come from Source or God.
IS REIKI A RELIGIOUS PRACTICE?
Reiki taps into a person’s spirituality, but is not practiced by just one specific religious affiliation. Practitioners come from all religious backgrounds, as do recipients. Reiki has been cited in many historical documents from a wide-range of cultures and backgrounds. I do not promote any religions in my sessions, and how you refer to Universe or Source is up to you and your personal beliefs.
